History of TV Thrillers-
The Thriller genre dates back hundreds of years with literature in the 1800s and early 1900s, but the Thriller genre in TV first began to grow with Alfred Hitchcock development of films in the 1920s, with his first thriller and third ever silent film called 'The Lodger' which was the beginning of the many thrillers he produced during the 30s and 40s.
Over the years, many common subgenres of TV thrillers have emerged, like psychological thrillers, crime thrillers and mystery thrillers. the thriller genre has often overlapped with the crime, horror and detective genres. The thriller genre is designed to excite audiences, build anticipation and keep people on the edge of their seats throughout watching. Thrillers use devices such as plot twists, cliff hangers and red herrings to keep audiences interested.
